Why Nigerian Dogs Are Harder to Train (And How to Fix It)

Many imported training guides assume a dog that will do anything for kibble. In Nigeria, that assumption often breaks down.

The problem

Dogs raised on rich table food are rarely motivated by ordinary treats. Trainers then escalate corrections, which damages trust.

The fix

  • Find the real motivator: play, praise, or a genuinely high-value food
  • Raise the value of the reward, not the intensity of the correction
  • Keep sessions short and always end on success

Training is communication, not force. Match the method to the dog in front of you.
